Introduction

Following the success of previous conferences in Hong Kong 2001, Adelaide 2004, Miami 2006 and Zurich 2008, the 5th International conference on Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composites in Civil Engineering is to be held in Beijing, China in September 2010. The aim of this conference is to provide an international forum for all concerned with the application of FRP composites in civil engineering to exchange and share recent advances in both research and practice. CICE 2010 is an official conference of the International Institute for FRP in Construction (IIFC) and is being organized by the Central Research Institute of Building and Construction, MCC Group and Tsinghua University.

 

Call for Papers

Prospective authors are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 250 words to paper@cice2010.net by 1 September 2009. The corresponding author is to be clearly identified in all submissions with his/her email address, fax and telephone numbers, and complete postal address included. Email correspondence will be used as much as possible. Only emailed abstracts will be accepted. The abstract.dot template, available at the conference website (www.cice2010.net), must be used for abstract submission. Guidelines for the submission of full-length papers are also available at the conference website. The official language is English. Selected papers after appropriate revision and extension will be published in a special issue of an international journal. The IIFC will recognize the most meritorious papers in four different categories with the IIFC best paper awards.

Topics

Papers dealing with all aspects of the application of FRP composites in civil engineering structures will be considered for publication in the conference proceedings and for presentation at the conference. Topics include but are not limited to:

Registration Fee

Early Registration: RMB 6000 (about EUR 550) including IIFC Membership 2011, RMB 3500 (about EUR 320) for students including IIFC Membership.

Registration after 30 June 2010: RMB 7500 including IIFC Membership 2011, RMB 4000 for students including IIFC Membership.

The registration fee covers attendance at the conference, the conference proceedings, the welcome reception, banquet, refreshments, all lunches and dinners. The technical tours and social program are not included.

 

Technical Program and Exhibition

The 3-day program will consist of keynote lectures and general sessions. Various IIFC meetings will also be held during the conference. The third day will contain presentations on practical applications of FRP and will be of interest to practicing engineers. A technical tour to the Beijing Olympic Park (the National Stadium “Birdnest” and National Swimming Center “Water Cube”) will be arranged. A products and services exhibition will be open during the conference. If you are interested in having a display booth, please contact the conference secretariat.

 

Social Program

An interesting social program for accompanying persons (e.g. visits to the Forbidden City, the Great Wall and the 2008 Olympic Park) will be arranged if there is sufficient interest. Post-conference tours to Shanghai (the EXPO 2010 city), Xi’an, Guilin, will be arranged.
